Secondary data are often widely dispersed and difficult to find but may be vital in conducting a project of analyzing trends. The "Data" component of the Web portal provides users with access to various data sources, including data that can simply be added to an Excel spreadsheet or multilayer geographic information system (GIS) data. The data information pages describe what the data are, how they can be obtained, existence of metadata, associated costs or registration requirements, and data uses and limitations.
